From July/August 2022 Intercession Paper
``Jesus, you call us to 'come' follow you, and to 'go' into the world, filled with the Spirit, sharing the love of God. Help us, we pray, to remember your call, to know you in each other and all creation, and to come and go with you each day.``
JOIN US IN PRAYER
Every month Companions receive a small booklet in the mail, the Intercession Paper. Day by day, we turn its pages, praying with our Companions. The prayers concern needs big and small, thanksgivings, and the aims of the Society. Each day of the week has a theme.
In this monthly feature of our blog, we select some prayers from this month’s IP, as it is called. If you’re so inclined, please join Companions in reaching out in love through prayer.

ON THE COVER
May our beloved Episcopal Church be infused with the spirit of love and companionship. May all who make decisions for the church do so with boldness and courage and be supported by our constant prayers. May chains be broken, and hearts and minds transformed, all for the sake of being Beloved Community. The Jesus Movement cannot be stopped, only joined.

THANKSGIVING: SUNDAY AND EVERY DAY
Father, we know that you can do great things through us in times of crisis. We need your strength and that of our brothers and sisters. Help us to reach out and bind our hearts together so we are strong for each other. Let each of us lend our strengths to the fabric of our lives, binding us together for your purpose. Thank you for the gift of fellowship across the lines of division; this we pray in your Son’s name.

MISSION IN GOD’S WORLD: MONDAY
Jesus, you call us to “come” follow you, and to “go” into the world, filled with the Spirit, sharing the love of God. Help us, we pray, to remember your call, to know you in each other and all creation, and to come and go with you each day.

UNITY OF GOD’S PEOPLE: TUESDAY
In your mercy, Lord, help us to be willing to open our hearts and minds to accept all persons. Lead us in the pathway of kindness and love, to share with each of our brothers and sisters as we walk in this our earthly home.

SOCIAL JUSTICE: WEDNESDAY
Ask: who is my neighbor, who created our world, who is suffering and struggling, whose voice is ignored? And why am I closing my eyes and heart from seeing and knowing?

PEACE & RECONCILIATION: THURSDAY
O Lord my God, maker of heaven and earth and of all our relatives, thank you that you are our ever-present help in times of trouble. In relationships that are in conflict, please help us to see the issues clearly and to assume our part of the responsibility so that we may share in repairing the broken places and reconcile with our sisters and brothers. May your peace be in our hearts, your grace be in our words, your love be in our hands, and your joy be in our souls; through Jesus Christ our Redeemer.

GROWTH IN SPIRITUAL LIFE: FRIDAY
Come to us, Holy Spirit. Come to each of us with your wisdom, that we listen as we pray, that we contemplate as we study, that we commit anew to transformation and reconciliation within ourselves and within our Companionship. Guide us as we seek to follow the way of the cross.
