THE COMPANIONS

SELECTED PRAYERS FROM NOVEMBER INTERCESSION PAPER

Opening Page

A silent bell rings inside me

As I seek the call from Love.

There is a rightness of the silence

Which makes me smile.

I am absorbed into the bell’s vibrations

And all is good with the world.

Praying this is being with the Lover.

Where will the energy, the no-sound of the bell

Take us?

We will be carried together with Love

Making more of both of us, me and Love.

Participating in the evolution of creation

As together both of our awareness unfolds

In one being.

Simplicity of Life: Monday

Lord of all, may I live a simple life

Simply caring

Simply respectful

Simply compassionate

Simply forgiving

Simply giving

Simply letting go

Simply knowing the more I trust in you,

the more the hardest things in life

Become simple.

Because you simply love me.

Elisabeth Robbins, SCHC

Unity of All God’s People: Tuesday

Gracious God of love and peace, in this time of

division and uncertainty, we rest in your love as we

rest in the possibilities of your hope, knowing that

Christ within us is within all people and we are one.

Strengthened by Christ, may we nurture your

presence, ask what you would have us do, and follow

as you lead us in the days to come. We pray in the name of Jesus.

Social Justice: Wednesday

Jesus our Christ, we ask you to help us defend our

nation’s democracy of justice and peace in this time.

We pray for freedom from violence, and especially

for all whose lives and livelihoods are disrupted by

political changes and who are afraid. We pray for our

own part in resisting change, and in supporting those

who continue to hold fast to that which is good.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer!

Peace & Reconciliation: Thursday

God of peace and reconciliation, instill in our hearts a

desire for a world where we can coincide and uplift

each other through your example of acceptance, even

in our differences, to listen to each other, even when

we don’t agree, and to help us realize that diversity is

our strength. Diverse voices can sing together and

different visions can bring us to our common goal for

peace in the world.

Growth in Spiritual Life: Friday

Dear Lord, help me to be a “feather on the breath of

God” (Hildegard of Bingen). May my mind and heart

be light enough to feel your nudges, and open enough

to follow in equanimity. May I express my desire to

know you better through trust and patience. Help me

put into practice my heartfelt knowledge that you are

with me no matter what comes my way by remaining

flexible and available in all I do.

Jill Dampier-Need, SCHC

Prayers Personal and General: Saturday

The song says, “I want to walk as a child of the light;

I want to follow Jesus.”

Yes.

Following you, I seek to carry light into dark places.

I need to see and know the darkness around me;

I beg you to shield me from being overcome by it.

O Holy One, I need your guiding hand to thread this

needle.

Keep my spirit whole and strong as I carry your light

of truth, justice and love wherever you send me.

Thanksgiving: Sunday and Every Day.

In you, most loving God, we are one. Open our ears

to hear your voice, calling us anew. When we have

lost our way, find and unite us in your love. Thanks

be to our loving God for the unity of the many

diverse groups who come together to respond in

times of catastrophe.
