SELECTED PRAYERS FROM SEPTEMBER 2024 INTERCESSION PAPER
Cover:
Each morning, this prayer springs out of me
In yearning, hoping love
For the peace of the world, and for
the healing of Your Creation
And now, for our country,
That wisdom and justice may somehow prevail
That we may reach across great gulfs,
Become repairers of the breach
Each in our own way.
Sharing Your heart, I offer my hands,
Sinking into prayer
For the peace of Your beloved world
The healing of all Creation.
– Kathy Staudt, SCHC
Monday:
Help me live with calm purpose to love you, to dwell in you, to give thanks to you always.
– Karen Christian, SCHC
Tuesday:
O God, your love pervades the universe, too close for words, too all-encompassing for knowing, too powerful for doubts.
Open the hearts of the lonely who ache for your presence, open the hands of the sorrowful who yearn to heal their neighbors’ suffering, open the lips of the fearful who long to sing of your grace.
And grant us your peace.
– Adrienne Stair, SCHC
Wednesday:
The key for a secure, livable world lies with disciplined nonconformists who are dedicated to justice, peace and brotherhood.
– The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (1929-1968), A Gift of Love
Thursday:
Live in harmony with one another; do not be arrogant, but associate with the lowly; do not claim to be wiser than you are. Romans 12:16
Friday
Teach us, Lord, to find and take time to set aside the worries and cares of the world, to empty our minds and focus on your love, for us and for our world. Let us breathe deeply your Spirit of peace. Only when we truly are quiet can we listen and hear your still small voice and follow where you lead.
– Cathy Stone, SCHC
Saturday:
We must turn to each other and not on each other.
– Jesse Jackson
