Emily Under the Elms (Putnam, that is)

Presenter: Annie Russell, SCHC Archivist

Sunday, February 21

7- 8 pm on Zoom

During her lifetime, Emily Malbone Morgan was known not only as a founder of the Society of the Companions of the Holy Cross, but also for her long-term work in supporting vacation houses for working girls. In 1906, she purchased an ancestral home in Connecticut, Putnam Elms, which served both as a working girls’ vacation house and as her personal residence. As part of the commemoration of her feast day on February 25, “Emily Under the Elms” shines a light on an important – and often overlooked – part of Emily Morgan’s commitment to care and community for women as well as her love for her own family.

No registration required. The Zoom link will be posted at a later date.
