THANKSGIVING AND EVERYDAY: SUNDAY
God on my doorstep, knocking softly each day. Never leaving, ever waiting for the door to crack a bit. Quietly we touch the knob and welcome our Lord into this moment, this day.
– Penny Shaw, SCHC
SIMPLICITY OF LIFE: MONDAY
Lord of the simple things:
The pink sunrise and the birds of the morning,
A cup of coffee and a snuggle with my dog.
The memories of my great-grandchild as he discovers
The joys of nature and God’s creation.
Baby birds in the nest and hummingbirds at the feeder.
All are gifts from God, the simple things!
Lord of the simple things:
The beautiful joy of a spring garden,
A phone call from a loving friend.
And to look into the eyes of the lonely
And see God’s beautiful ones, children of God.
May I walk each day the way of the cross
And carry in my heart the image of Jesus crucified.
– Ethel Wright, SCHC
UNITY OF ALL GOD’S PEOPLE: TUESDAY
Holy God,
Gather us into the oneness of your love.
Where we are divided, knit us together with grace;
where we are weary, strengthen us with hope;
where we are uncertain, guide us with your Spirit.
Make us one body, one people,
so that our life together may reflect your healing and your light
for the sake of the world you cherish.
– Jennifer Bassett, SCHC
SOCIAL JUSTICE: WEDNESDAY
Thank you for welcoming communities like small Episcopal churches, centering prayer groups on Zoom, and book clubs at libraries: communities that help us live out our baptismal covenant to strive for peace and justice and respect the dignity of every human being.
– Molly Lovelock, SCHC
PEACE AND RECONCILIATION: THURSDAY
Loving Father, help us see your vision of creation. Give us purpose and courage to promote peace and reconciliation in our families, our communities and our world. Keep us from cynicism and despair, but shepherd us ever forward on your path of love.
– A Companion
GROWTH IN SPIRITUAL LIFE: FRIDAY
Loving-kindness of all creation, your energy, light, and darkness foster an opportunity to see, discover, grow, and journey amid way openings, way closings, wayfinding, and mystery. Although my journey is gifted with unknowns and vulnerability, I thank you for your presence within me.
– Sylvia DeGooyer, SCHC
PRAYERS PERSONAL AND GENERAL: SATURDAY
Tears are not enough to quench the volcanic flames and trembling quakes of war. Beloved Creator of this world, pour your mercy down on us like rain, extinguish the fires of anger, and still the shaking fears of your earth. May your love shine within us with the brightness of your Son and enlighten our hearts with the wisdom we need to restore peace with our brothers and sisters and care for your creation.
– Ellen Weig, Discerner
