God of light and love, we give you thanks for sending
us stars to guide our journey and dream-angels to
whisper your voice to us when evil tries to turn us
from compassion and hope. We give you thanks for
Companions with whom to share a life of prayer and
whose light inspires us to be your love in the world.
We bow to you in deep gratitude.
– Kay Hankinson, SCHC
THANKSGIVING: SUNDAY AND EVERY DAY
Dear Lord, we come to you in thanksgiving for all the blessings you offer: for your beautiful world, for family and friends, for opportunities and, above all, for your ever-present love. May we carry that love into the world, praising you always.
– A Companion
SIMPLICITY OF LIFE: MONDAY
O Hearer of our hearts, on the cusp of this New Year,
grant us one. One vision of Your vast compassion.
One whispered word of Your wholeness. For one
touch from You is enough to bring us to Life.
– Janet Waggoner, SCHC
UNITY OF ALL GOD’S PEOPLE: TUESDAY
May you be centered in the knowledge of
God’s love for you.
May you be grounded in the knowledge of
God’s Holy Providence.
May you be led by
God’s Holy Wisdom,
and at the end of the day,
at the end of your life,
may you find that place of peace and rest,
restoration and refreshment of
body, soul and spirit
that is
4the heart of God.
– Clare Keller, SCHC
SOCIAL JUSTICE: WEDNESDAY
Almighty God and Perfect Judge, give all our leaders
and judges wisdom and compassion in their decision-
making and judgments. May we, also, stand for what
is right for all. May Christ’s mercy, compassion,
forgiveness, and judgments guide us in each new day.
Beloved Lord, be with all who seek your ways.
– Pam Lang, SCHC
PEACE & RECONCILIATION: THURSDAY
Dearest God,
We know that your plan for us is to live together in
peace, but peace continues to elude us. Help our
unruly human race to relinquish its stubborn desire to
be always right, always better than the other. For we
know that to you alone is the wisdom of right
judgment, and you only are the author of our
imperfect authority. May we humbly work for peace.
– Sarah Braik, SCHC
GROWTH IN SPIRITUAL LIFE: FRIDAY
Dear Lord, please help me to live as if the reign of
God has begun, to help
those in need, to comfort those who are grieving and
to act in a loving way
to all. It is hard and as we say in our Baptismal
Creed, we will “with God’s
help.”
– Jen Tellman, SCHC
PRAYERS PERSONAL AND GENERAL: SATURDAY
Looking back over my life I can see that the difficult,
trying times were often the most transforming. I may
even have felt that God had abandoned me, but God
was always there, present, sustaining, guiding. Thank
you, God, for your loving presence regardless of
what joys or sorrows life might bring.
– Jeanette Renouf, SCHC
